Spiders Fall in Nail-Biter Versus Longwood Ahead of A-10 Road Trip

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team came up just short in a tough non-conference match Wednesday, falling 4-3 to visiting Longwood at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The loss dropped the Spiders to 8-7 on the season.

How It Happened
All three doubles courts went to tiebreaks, with Longwood claiming the opening point after winning two of the three matches. Otto Sewell and Mark Taranov earned a 7-6 victory on court three for Richmond's lone doubles win.

In singles action, the Spiders responded with three straight-set victories. Otto Sewell rolled past Petar Belosevic (LU) 6-1, 6-4 on court two, while Cole Brashear and Zach Portnoy both delivered 6-2, 6-2 wins on courts four and five, respectively. Longwood, however, took courts one, three and six to secure the team victory.
