Schlenker Pace Men’s Tennis at Liberty Hidden Duals

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Richmond men's tennis team had a tough draw at the Liberty Hidden Duals to start the season this past weekend. UR came away with a 5-7 record in singles action and 3-1 in doubles play.
In Friday singles action, Patrick Kenny fell to UNC Wilmington's Dean William 6-4, 1-6, 6-10.
The Spiders were in action in both singles and doubles play on Saturday. Charlie Schlenker picked up his first singles win as a Spider over William & Mary's Bryan Volk 6-3, 6-0. Sam Rathmanner defeated VCU's Taisei Hata 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 before crosstown rival VCU took matches from five Spiders.
The doubles duo of Pritchard and Brashear defeated VCU's Consonni and Zaorski 6-3 while Kenny and Rathmanner also picked up a 6-3 win over VCU duo of Volesky and Wageh. Atkinson and Chapides fell 6-3 to William & Mary's Volk and Cohen while Cohen teamed up with UR's Burdell to defeat VCU's Petera and Mottier 6-2.
In Sunday singles action, Dylan Atkinson came from behind to defeat Jose Pablo Coello (UNCW) 6-1, 3-6, 10-4. Schlenker won his second match of the weekend over UNC Wilmington's William Dean 6-3, 5-7, 10-7. Burdell went 1-1 on the weekend after defeating William & Mary's Theo Nilsson 6-2, 6-2 while Brashear picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Bryan Volk, also from William & Mary.
