Singles Surge Lifts Richmond to Key A-10 Road Victory

BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team earned a key Atlantic 10 Conference road win on Sunday, defeating Fordham 4-1 at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. The victory improved the Spiders to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

How It Happened
After dropping the doubles point with losses on courts one and three, the Spiders bounced back in dominant fashion in singles, winning four straight matches to secure the 4-1 win.

Davis Wiley, on his 21^st birthday, got things started with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over D. Virdee-Oakley (FORM) on court one. Dylan Atkinson followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court three before Cole Brashear added a 6-1, 6-1 rout on court five. Otto Sewell delivered the clincher, taking down Ruben Russwurm (FORM) 6-3, 6-2 on court four.

The matches on courts two and six were left unfinished, with Richmond leading in one and trailing narrowly in the other.
