Spider Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at Virginia

Richmond, now 30-22 on the season, stays on the road to close out the 2026 regular season at Saint Louis with an Atlantic 10 Conference series beginning Thursday in the Show-Me State.
The Spiders scored in the first inning when Michael Elko crossed the plate as Ryan Recio was hit by the thrown ball from Virginia third baseman, collecting an infield hit.
Trevor Dosenbach had a strong day at the plate. In the third inning, he doubled through the left side of the infield to score Jackson Kraemer and Aidan O'Keefe. Then in the fifth he hit a three-run home run to deep left field for his first collegiate home run. Dosenbach also drew two walks on the day.
Joe Crenshaw collected the Spiders fifth hit of the game in to lead off the seventh.
Richmond used seven pitchers over the seven in two-thirds of action in the midweek contest. Kristopher Morris got the start, allowing four unearned runs on one hit, two walks and two hit batters while striking out two in an inning of action. Aaron Van Tuyle scattered two runs on two hits and a strikeout over two innings of work. Angel Santiago-Cruz gave up four runs on two hits and two walks without collecting an out.
Sam Young got two outs, while allowing two runs on two hits, three walks and a strikeout. Glenn Smith allowed one run on one hit and two walks over three and a third of an inning. Mauricio Rodriguez got two outs, allowing four runs on four walks while Paul Witkop gave up one run, on one hit and a hit batter.
