
Portnoy Picks Up Lone Point as Spiders Fall at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision at William & Mary Tuesday afternoon in the final regular season road match at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. With the result, the Spiders fell to 9-8 on the season while the Tribe improved to 6-13.
How It Happened
William & Mary clinched the doubles point to open the match, winning on courts two and three. Court one went unfinished with the Spider duo Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley leading 4-2.
In singles play, Zach Portnoy earned Richmond's lone point with a strong 6-2, 6-0 win on court six. The Tribe, however, followed with straight-set victories on courts two and three before clinching the match on court one, where Wiley fell in three sets to Gur Trakhtenberg (WM), 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The matches on courts four and five were left unfinished with both leaning toward a decisive third set.
