
Men’s Tennis Dominates Duquesne for First A-10 Win

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team earned its first Atlantic 10 Conference win of the season Saturday, defeating Duquesne, 6-1, at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The victory lifted the Spiders to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Dukes fell to 2-8 and 0-2 in the A-10.
How It Happened
Richmond took the early advantage by winning two of three doubles matches. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley opened with a dominant 6-2 win on court one against Alfrendo Vogelaar and Keita Duclos (DUQ). Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell secured the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Tancredi Alfano and Enrique Lana (DUQ) on court three. The match on court two was left unfinished with Richmond leading 5-3.
In singles, Wiley set the tone with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Vogelaar (DUQ) on court one. Paxton Pritchard battled past Duclos (DUQ) on court two, notching a tough 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory. Atkinson followed with another three-set win on court three, defeating Aril Kayra Tuna (DUQ) 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 while Sam Rathmanner and Zach Portnoy added straight-set victories on courts five and six. Duquesne's lone point came on court four, where Arnau Anton Garcia (DUQ) topped Sewell in straight sets.
