Men’s Tennis Wins First Match at Army Saturday Morning

WEST POINT, N.Y. – With a key doubles victory and three straight singles victories, the University of Richmond men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season Saturday at Army, 4-2, to move to 1-2 on the season while Army fell to 1-1.

How it Happened
In doubles, Army earned a quick win on court one, 6-3, over Spider duo Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley, while Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell responded on court three with a 6-3 win over Choi and Armistead (ARMY). Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner clinched the doubles point for the Spiders after going toe-to-toe with Bodavula and Hanna (ARMY), winning 7-5.

In singles, Sewell kept the Spiders rolling with a 6-1, 6-3 rout of Feoli (ARMY), before Wiley downed Ton (ARMY) on court one 6-2, 6-3. Army managed to get a point on court two, as Pritchard dropped a tough 6-3, 6-3 match to Armistead (ARMY). Atkinson added the final point for the Spiders with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Bodavula (ARMY), while Army picked up its second point on court five with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Rathmanner. On court six, Brashear led McDonald (ARMY) 7-5, 3-2, but the match was left unfinished.
