Women’s Tennis Concludes ITA Atlantic Regionals in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team competed at the 2024 ITA Division I Women's Atlantic Regional Championship in Charlottesville this past weekend as Spider newcomer Abby Lee posted two singles wins in the qualifying round and duo Lucy Webber and Lainey O'Neil picked up the lone doubles win for Richmond.
Lee defeated Ava Chambers (Howard) 7-5, 6-0 before downing Lexi Smolder (Radford) 6-0, 6-4. The freshman then dropped a hard-fought battle to Blanca Pico Navarro (UVA) 6-2, 6-1 to round out the tournament. Elizabeth Novak picked up a win over Aleksandra Evdokimova (Morgan St.), 6-1, 6-1 while Webber rounded out the Richmond wins in singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Veda Prapurna (MASON).
Webber and O'Neil notched an 8-5 win in doubles action over Kennedy/Evans (Georgetown) in the opening round before falling to Uslu/Cartledge (Va. Tech) in the second round.
Singles Competition
The Spiders will look ahead to the Conference Masters Qualifying in Davidson, N.C. Oct. 25-27.
