RICHMOND, Va. — Following a standout spring campaign, the University of Richmond women's tennis team has the honor of highlighting three players on the 2025 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Graduate student Andrea Campodonico, junior Lara Bakhaya and freshman Sofia Barbulescu each earned First Team recognition after leading the Spiders to a 16-7 overall record, a 6-2 A-10 mark in conference play and a run to the A-10 Championship match.
Campodonico capped her collegiate career with an impressive dual season, posting an 11-7 singles record and a 13-7 doubles mark. She came up big in the postseason, notching a 6-1, 6-3 win over Massachusetts' Ella Faessler in the A-10 semifinal and defeating VCU's Ariana Sabando in the championship match. Campodonico was also recognized as A-10 Player of the Week on April 8.
Bakhaya put together one of the most consistent seasons on the roster, finishing 13-4 in singles and 13-7 in doubles. She went on an eight-match singles win streak from March 22 to April 13 and strung together nine consecutive doubles victories during that same stretch through April 25. The junior was honored as A-10 Player of the Week twice (April 1 and April 15).
Barbulescu delivered a stellar freshman campaign playing exclusively at the No. 1 singles position. She went 9-8 in singles, including a 6-2, 6-2 win in the A-10 Championship opening win over Duquesne. In doubles, she posted a 13-7 record, primarily partnering with Elizabeth Novak on court two. In the fall, Barbulescu made waves by advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITA Conference Masters Tournament after winning the qualifying draw, falling only to Oklahoma State in the quarterfinal match.
