RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team announced its 2025 fall schedule Tuesday, highlighted by the River City Open at the Westhampton Tennis Complex, multiple ITA events and new tournaments in the International Tennis Federation circuit.
"I think our fall schedule should continue to challenge us and see us take steps forward," said fourth-year Head Coach Jacob Dunbar. "With the addition of some professional tournaments, we expect the team to learn and develop over these coming months. I'm also excited to add a couple new players to our roster and to see what they can do over the fall."
The Spiders open the fall slate on Sept. 13-14 at the ITA Hall of Fame Classic in Williamsburg, Va., before heading to the Elon Invitational Sept. 19-21. Richmond will also compete at the ITA Women's' All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., Sept. 20-28.
Richmond returns home Oct. 3-5 to host the River City Open at the Westhampton Tennis Complex, while select players will compete in the A-10 Conference Masters that same weekend.
The Spiders continue with ITA Regionals Oct. 16-21, then join the ITF World Tennis Tour with events in Hilton Head, S.C., on Oct. 21 and Sumter, S.C., on Oct. 27. The fall will conclude with the ITA Conference Masters on Nov. 6-9.
Last fall, then-freshman Sofia Barbulescu captured the ITA Masters Qualifying title and advanced to the Conference Masters quarterfinals, and she returns as part of a veteran Spider lineup. Dunbar welcomes back seniors Lara Bakhaya and Elizabeth Novak, juniors Lainey O'Neil and Lucy Webber, and sophomores Barbulescu, Abby Lee and Amy Walsh.
He also adds freshmen Beatriz Guerra of Natal, Brazil, a three-time 2023 tournament champion with titles at ITF Junior events in Punta del Este and Serra Negra and at the Brazilian Tournament in Curitiba, and Daniela O'Leary of Atlanta, Ga., a product of The Mount Vernon School who ranked No. 163 nationally, No. 51 in the Southeast, and No. 8 in Georgia in the 2025 Babolat Recruiting Lists. O'Leary was also an Honor Roll student and National Honor Society member.
