UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Nationally ranked William & Mary bested University of Richmond 7-0 in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at UR Tennis Complex.
The tribe swept the six singles matches and won the doubles point to post the Colonial Athletic Association win. William & Mary senior Trevor Spracklin bested Richmond senior Rob Flader (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) 7-5, 7-6 in the No. 1 position. While in the number two spot, Pat Brown bested Niki Doll (Heidelberg, Germany/Heidelberg Gymnasium) 7-6, 6-2. At the Nos. 5 and 6 positions, Mark Scordo (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex) and Dan Scrafford (Centreville, Va./Centreville) attempted comebacks only to fall 7-5, 7-6 and 6-1, 7-5 respectively.
In doubles competition, William & Mary dominated its CAA rival. At the top doubles position, Trevor Spracklin and Pat Brown defeated Flader and Todd Parker (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) 8-1 while Brian Lubin and Joe Brooks registered an 8-3 win over Doll and Scardo at two doubles. The Tribe's Chris Erikson teamed with Matt Davis to record an 8-0 decision over David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) and Scrafford.
