Wiley Leads the Way as Spiders Defeat UNCG Monday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – Behind a strong showing in both singles and doubles play, the University of Richmond men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over UNCG Monday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. With the win, the Spiders improve to 8-8 on the spring season, while the Spartans fall to 6-12.
How It Happened
Richmond opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and one. Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner set the tone with a dominant 6-1 victory on court two, before Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley followed with a 6-3 win at the top spot to clinch the early advantage. The third doubles match went unfinished.
In singles play, the Spiders built momentum quickly, claiming three of the first four completed matches to secure the team victory. Cole Brashear extended Richmond's lead with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win on court six, followed by Davis Wiley's 6-3, 6-3 victory on court one. The senior continues to anchor the lineup, improving to 12-3 in dual singles this spring.
