FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision at George Mason Friday afternoon. With the result, the Spiders move to 7-8 on the spring season and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, while the Patriots (1-0, A-10) improve to 9-3.

How It Happened
In singles play, George Mason picked up the first point on court three, as Ekansh Kumar defeated Charlie Burdell 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Davis Wiley quickly responded for Richmond on court one, battling through a first-set tiebreak before earning a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory to improve to 11-3 in dual singles this spring.

The Patriots regained momentum on court four, where Niza Simunyola rallied past Otto Sewell in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Dylan Atkinson answered on court five with a gritty three-set win, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, picking up his second dual singles victory of the season and keeping Richmond within one.

George Mason clinched the match on court two, as Monil Lotlikar defeated Paxton Pritchard in straight sets. The match on court six between Cole Brashear and Shari Saeed was left unfinished.
