Spiders Sweep Long Island in Neutral Site Victory Friday Night

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Long Island on Friday night at the Tose Family Tennis Center in a neutral site contest. With the win, the Spiders improve to 1-5 on the spring season, while LIU falls to 1-2.
How It Happened
Richmond set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. At the top spot, Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley defeated Bassil Touban and James Vincent, 6-2. Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner followed with a 6-4 win over Daniel Lemmon-Warde and Jason Lemon-Warde on court two to secure the point. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Charlie Burdell and Otto Sewell against Jack Brimm and Victor Sjostrom was left unfinished at 5-3.
The Spiders carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight or three sets. Wiley opened singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Touban at No. 1. Burdell added a 6-4, 6-4 win against Vincent on court two.
Pritchard rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 decision over Brimm at No. 3, while Sewell posted a dominant 6-1, 6-1 result against Lemmon-Warde on court four. Brashear earned a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Sjostrom at No. 5 and Nathan Germino closed out the sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jason Lemon-Warde on court six.
