Spiders Fall to Brown at Salisbury Country Club Saturday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Brown on Saturday afternoon at the Salisbury Country Club. The setback moves the Spiders to 0-5 on the spring season, while the Bears improve to 7-4.
How It Happened
Richmond claimed the early momentum by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. At the top spot, Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley earned a 6-3 victory over Zander Bravo and Ivan Sodan. Charlie Burdell and Otto Sewell followed with a 6-4 decision against James Lian and Cole Oberg on court three. Brown's Noah Hernandez and Lukas Phimvongsa picked up a 6-3 win over Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner at No. 2, but the Spiders carried a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Brown answered quickly in singles action, winning four completed matches to take control of the contest. Lukas Phimvongsa evened the score at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Burdell on court two. Noah Hernandez gave the Bears the lead with a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Sewell at No. 3.
At the top position, Ivan Sodan outlasted Wiley in a three-set battle, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, pushing Brown's advantage to 3-1. Elliot Wasserman clinched the match on court five, defeating Brashear 6-3, 7-5.
Matches on courts four and six went unfinished. Paxton Pritchard led Robert Yang 6-4, 5-6 at the time of stoppage, while Nathan Germino held a 5-2 advantage over Alex Koong in the first set.
