RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team continued its dominant run Saturday with a 4-0 sweep over George Washington at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The victory marks the Spiders' ninth win in a row and improves their record to 14-6 overall, the program's highest single season win total since 2011-12. Richmond ends the regular season at 6-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference action and 9-2 at home.
How It Happened
Richmond rolled through doubles play to claim the opening point. Sofia Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak earned a 6-3 win on the top court, while Claire Le Du and Lainey O'Neil followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
The Spiders kept their momentum going in singles action as Andrea Campodonico added onto the forfeit point for UR with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Claire Le Du secured the match on court four with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Alejandra Ramirez (GW).
The matches on courts one, three, and five were left unfinished with Richmond leading in each.
