
Spiders Sweep Duquesne to Advance to Third-Straight A-10 Semifinal

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team punched its ticket to a third consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal with a commanding 4-0 victory over No. 6 Duquesne Friday morning at the USTA National Campus. The Spiders improved to 15-6 on the season, picked up the team's 10th-straight win and will face No. 2 seed Massachusetts on Saturday at 9 a.m.
How It Happened
Richmond controlled the match from the start, taking the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico rolled to a 6-2 win on court one, while Claire Le Du and Lainey O'Neil matched that score on court three. The match on court two was left unfinished at 4-4.
In singles play, Elizabeth Novak got the Spiders rolling with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Taisia Yakunina (DUQ) on court five. Sofia Barbulescu followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Mia Badics (DUQ) on court one before Le Du sealed the match with a gritty 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 comeback win on court four.
The remaining three singles matches were left unfinished, with Richmond either leading or locked in close battles on each court.
