
Spiders Defeat Davidson, Close Regular Season With Fourth A-10 Win

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team closed out its regular season on a high note Saturday, defeating Davidson 4-1 at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The Spiders improved to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in Atlantic 10 play heading into next week's A-10 Championship in Orlando, Fla. Richmond also ends the 2025 home slate at 5-2.
The win marked Richmond's third straight victory over the Wildcats and fifth consecutive win over Davidson at home.
How It Happened
The Spiders secured the doubles point as Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell cruised to a 6-1 win on court three, while Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner battled to a 7-6 win on court two. Court one was left unfinished, tied at 6-6.
In singles play, Davis Wiley set the tone with a dominant 6-3, 6-1 victory over Uddayvir Singh (DAV) on court one. Zach Portnoy extended the lead with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court six before the Wildcats cut into the margin with a win on court four. Cole Brashear delivered the clinching point with a comeback 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win on court five.
The matches on courts two and three were left unfinished in the third set.
