Spiders Drive Past Duquesne on Senior Day

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team defeated Duquesne on Senior Day at Robins Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Spiders improve to 9-6 overall and 7-2 in Atlantic 10 play. Duquesne falls to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in league play.

Leading the Spiders, Alexis Morton collected seven points and set a new career-high in assists with one goal and six assists. Colleen Quinn led the team in goals, netting five. Juliana Stanley scored four goals and Grace Muldoon tallied four points with two goals and two assists. Amadi Higgins scored a career-high three goals, and Charlotte Edwards netted two goals. Whitney Liebler and Megan Rice each tallied two points with one goal and one assist. Keating Hopkins and Elizabeth Darcy each scored a goal.Â

The Spiders led Duquesne in multiple categories. Richmond out shot the Dukes 35-15, held a 23-9 advantage in ground balls and led 20-10 in the draw circle.

Richmond established a dominant start, scoring 13 straight goals to lead 13-0 with 8:27 remaining in the second quarter. The Dukes scored their first goal at 7:05 in the frame, but Richmond quickly responded with a goal to end the half leading 14-1.

At the start of the second half, the Spiders and Dukes each scored three goals, and Richmond entered the final quarter with a 17-4 lead. In the last frame, the Spiders outscored the Dukes 4-2 to seal the 21-6 win.

Richmond returns to play Saturday, April 19, to face Villanova at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.
