Spiders Roll Past Duquesne for Second Straight A-10 Win

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team picked up its second straight Atlantic 10 Conference win on Saturday, defeating Duquesne 6-1 at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. The victory pushed the Spiders above .500 at 7-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
How It Happened
Richmond set the tone in doubles, securing the opening point with wins on courts one and two. Sofia Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak took down Mila Badics and Kaya Rand (DUQ) 6-3 on court one, while Claire Le Du and Lainey O'Neil clinched the point with a 6-3 victory over Jasa Roka and Taisia Yakunina (DUQ) on court two. The match on court three was left unfinished.
In singles, the Spiders dominated early, winning five of six matches. Lara Bakhaya breezed past Roka (DUQ) 6-0, 6-1 on court three, while Barbulescu followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Badics (DUQ) on the ace court. Elizabeth Novak secured another point for Richmond, defeating Alexandra O'Brien (DUQ) 6-2, 6-2 on court five. Andrea Campodonico and Le Du sealed the match with straight-set victories on courts two and four, respectively. The lone Duquesne point came at No. 6 singles, where Sofi Lopez-Linares Perez (DUQ) edged Lucy Webber in a third-set tiebreaker.
