RICHMOND, Va. – Despite clinching the doubles point, the University of Richmond men's tennis team fell 4–2 to Dayton on Saturday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Spiders dropped to 7–6 on the season and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference action while Dayton improved to 16–2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0.

How It Happened
Richmond opened the match by clinching the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley defeated Suk and Zinder (UD) 6-2 on court one, setting the tone early. Richmond clinched the doubles point on court two, where Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner took down McNally and Hussey (Dayton) 6-4. The Flyers earned their lone doubles win on court three, with Dore and Skigelstrand (Dayton) defeating Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell, 6-4.

In singles play, Richmond looked to build on its early momentum with a strong performance on court four, where Otto Sewell delivered straight sets win over Skigelstrand (Dayton) 6-4, 6-3, earning the Spiders their second point of the day. Sam Rathmanner was in a comeback on court six, splitting sets with Mandibe (Dayton) and trailing slightly in the third before the match was left unfinished at 3-6, 7-5, 1-2. Despite the fight from Richmond, Dayton took control on the top courts. Davis Wiley fell to McNally (Dayton) on court one, 6-2, 6-2, and Paxton Pritchard pushed Zinder (Dayton) to a deciding set on court two but ultimately dropped a close 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (4) battle. Dylan Atkinson came up short against Dore (Dayton) on court three, 6-4, 6-3, and Dayton clinched the match on court five, where Cole Brashear dropped a match to Hussey (Dayton) 6-4, 6-3.
