LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped its second match of the season at Liberty Saturday afternoon, 6-1, after Zach Portnoy picked up the lone singles win on court No .6. With the loss, Richmond fell to 0-2 to start the year while the Flames improved to 1-0.

How it Happened

Liberty picked up the first doubles win on court three as Paxton Pritchard and Dylan Atkinson dropped their match to Stinchcomb/Robinson (LU), 6-3. The Flames secured the doubles point after Davis Wiley and Sam Rathmanner dropped their court No. 1 match to No. 23 Almeida/Auytayakul (LU), 6-2. Cole Brashear and Otto Sewell led Roothman/Gouws (LU) 4-3 on court two, but the match was left unfinished.

In singles, the Flames got off quick wins on courts two, four and one while Sewell battled against Arraez (LU) on court thee, ultimately dropping the match 6-2, 7-5. Portnoy picked up the lone point for the Spiders on court six, downing Stinchcomb (LU) 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. The Flames collected the last point as Brashear narrowly fell to Gouws (LU), 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-6) on court five.
