
Men’s Tennis Dominates at UNCG Hidden Dual

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Despite the final day being rained out, the University of Richmond men's tennis team delivered a strong performance at the UNCG Hidden Dual this past weekend in Greensboro, N.C., claiming several victories in both singles and doubles competition.
In doubles action, Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley (RIC) set the tone against Coastal Carolina with a 6-3 win over Rodriguez/Dixon (CCU). Richmond duo Sam Rathmanner and Paxton Pritchard followed with a decisive 6-2 win over Collardin/Tripathi (CCU) for the second win over the Chanticleers.
Against North Carolina Wesleyan, the Spiders swept all four doubles matches. Brashear and Wiley took down Knese/Segovia (NCWU), 6-1, while Rathmanner and Pritchard continued their success with a 6-2 victory over Sitwell/Stoltz (NCWU). Otto Sewell and Grant Cohen delivered a 6-3 win over Brice/Nishizoe (NCWU) while Dylan Atkinson and Zach Portnoy closed out the pairing with a 6-3 win over Montes/Gastelu (NCWU).
In singles play against Campbell, Wiley claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Dagan (CU), while Pritchard edged out a tough 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 victory against Huiljec (CU). Rathmanner secured a straight-set 6-1, 6-4 victory over Lofink (CU), and Cohen fought back to win 3-6, 6-3, 10-2 against Fragasso (CU).
Against North Carolina Central, Wiley downed Vega (NCCU) 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, and Pritchard added another victory to his tally with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rodrigo Alves (NCCU). Cohen and Rathmanner added to Richmond's tally with convincing straight-set wins against Fortier-Gariepy (NCCU) and Saarinen (NCCU), respectively, while Brashear swept Lucas Artigas (NCCU) 6-1, 6-1. Sewell delivered a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win over Neiman Sneed to round out the invitational.
The Spiders are back in action on Oct. 4-6, as the team hosts the River City Tennis Open at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. Following the home tournament, the Spiders will participate in the Elon Invitational on Oct. 25-27.
