Men’s Tennis Concludes ITA Atlantic Regionals, Brashear and Wiley Shine in Doubles

NORFOLK, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team had a competitive showing across both singles and doubles play in the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Norfolk this past weekend.

In singles, Cole Brashear secured a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory over Tommy Kim (Navy) before falling in a hard-fought three-set match to Markus Giersiepen (JMU), 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner were both defeated in straight sets by Edison Sanchez (JMU) and Petar Belosevic (Longwood), respectively.

In doubles action, the Spider duo of Davis Wiley and Brashear posted two wins over the weekend, including a thrilling 8(7)-7(3) victory over Jakub Solarski and Deniz Okyay (Norfolk State) and a commanding 8-3 win against Matija Samardzic and Rodrigo Santiago Arraez (Liberty). The duo fell short in the final match in a tight 8-5 loss against Julian Lozano and Ilyas Milad Fahim (Va. Tech).

The Spiders look ahead to a split weekend with the Elon Invitational at Elon and the Atlantic 10 Fall Individual in Davidson, N.C. on Oct. 25-27.
