Spiders Outlast Weather Delay; Clinch Spot in A-10 Semifinals with win over Fordham

ORLANDO, Fla. – After clinching the doubles point outdoors, the University of Richmond Men's Tennis team weathered a two-hour rain delay and ultimately finished singles play indoors en route to a 4-0 win over No. 10 Fordham for a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal match. With the win, the Spiders improved to 14-8 on the year and will take on the winner of Saint Louis/Dayton Friday at 5:30 p.m.

In doubles action, duo Sebastian Miano and Alaister Burke defeated Dhillon Virdee-Oakley/Sampras Rakotondrainibe (FOR), 6-3, on court three while Daniel Kliebhan and William Karpinski defeated Quinn Fender/Nicholas Kanazirev (FOR), 6-3 on court one to clinch the doubles point.

Following the rain delay, John Walsh handled business indoors on court three by defeating Dhillon Virdee-Oakley (FOR), 6-2, 6-3. Alex Wernink defeated Rakotondrainibe (FOR), 7-5, 6-2 on court six to put the Spiders up 3-0 and Karpinski clinched the match for the Spiders with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Nicholas Kanazirev (FOR) on court two.
