Spiders end Season in A-10 Championship Semifinal Match Against Dayton

ORLANDO, Fla. – After dropping the doubles point, the University of Richmond Men's Tennis team rallied back to a 3-3 score line but fell just short to No. 6 Dayton in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal match Friday night in Orlando. With the loss, the Spiders finish the season with a 14-9 record, a 3-2 mark in conference play, a 5-1 home record and a 4-1 mark on neutral courts.
Down 1-0 following doubles competition, Davis Wiley began the rally for the Spiders, posting a dominating 6-3, 6-0 victory over Eric Perkowski (UD) on court four while John Walsh followed with a win of his own, a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ronit Hiryur (UD) on court three. After Dayton picked up two singles points to go up 3-2, Alex Wernink turned things around on court six and defeated Georgi Mavrodiev (UD), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to tie the match at three. On court five, Sebastian Miano battled to the very end with Sai Dore (UD), but ultimately fell short, 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 as Dayton collected the final point for the victory.
