Spiders Fall to JMU on the Road

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a match to James Madison on the road Friday afternoon, 6-1. The Spiders (4-5) earned the doubles point against the Dukes (7-2) before dropping each of their singles matches.
Campbell Erwin and John Walsh improved to 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 5-3 overall as a duo this season, beginning the day with a 6-4 win. Ricky Bell and Alaister Burke then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, leaving Josh Keitelman and Alex Wernink unfinished at 5-5 on court two.
In singles action, the Spiders went down in straight sets on courts two and three. John Walsh went down in straight sets on court one, but it would take a tie breaker in the first set, which Walsh would drop 11-9.
Sebastian Miano dropped his first set on court four and bounced back to take set two before falling in set three. Keitelman and Bell each won their first set on courts five and six, respectively, before dropping the next two straight matches.
