
Spiders Sweep Davidson 4-0, Advance To A-10 Final

ORLANDO, FL – The University of Richmond men's tennis team won the doubles point and three singles matches to sweep third-seeded Davidson, 4-0, Saturday in the Atlantic 10 semifinals at the USTA National Campus.
With the win, Richmond will take on cross-town rival VCU in the A-10 Championship match on Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m.
The Spiders won the doubles point after winning the first two doubles matches. freshman Campbell Erwin (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Klein Evans (Raleigh, N.C.) set the tone with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Douglas MacIntosh and Camden Mazzoni.
At No. 1 doubles, freshman Josh Keitelman (Chevy Chase, Md.) and junior Matt Fernandez (Richmond, Va.) clinched the double point with a tight 6-4 win against Axel Fries and Alexander Loope.
Junior George Lovitt (Marvin, N.C.) and freshman John Walsh (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) were leading 5-3 against Matthew Rose and Yash Parikh at No. 2 doubles when the point was won.
In singles, Erwin won in straight sets against Mazzoni, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Fernandez made it 3-0 after a straight-sets win against Fries, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Sophomore Joe Nardini (Arlington, Va.) clinched the victory with a straight-sets win against Brooks Green, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6 singles. Nardini was down 2-5 in the second set before rallying to win the next five games, including a clutch service game at 6-5.
Richmond (18-5) will face cross-town rival and top seed VCU in the A-10 championship on Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m.
