
Spiders Sweep UConn on Saturday, 7-0

GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the second-straight day, the University of Richmond men's tennis team posted a 7-0 sweep, this time over UConn in a neutral site matchup at East Carolina.
The Spiders came out swinging, as Brice Polender and Klein Evans posted a 6-1 doubles win on court 2. The No. 1 pair of Caleb Troy and James Aronson then secured the point with a 6-2 victory.
Singles play continued in the same dominant fashion. Joe Nardini downed Evan Powell, 6-1, 6-0, on court 6, before Troy defeated Yili Zheng at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1, and George Lovitt won 6-1, 6-2 over Jonathan Edwards on court 5 for the 3-0 lead.
Evans won his second match of the day, defeating Jack McLister, 6-4, 6-2 on court 4, and Aronson did the same with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 over Justin Warren. Matt Fernandez rounded out the sweep with a 6-4, 7-5 win on court 2, taking down UConn's Hank Hill.
The Spiders aren't done yet this weekend, as they head back to Richmond for a 11 a.m. matchup on Sunday against Villanova. Richmond will honor its two seniors, Troy and Aronson, after the match concludes.
