
Spiders Post 5-2 Win Over UC Riverside

USAFA, Colo. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team rebounded on Saturday in its second match of the weekend, besting UC Riverside, 5-2, in a neutral site matchup.
The Spiders started strong with two doubles wins to take an early 1-0 lead. Seniors Caleb Troy and James Aronson pulled off a 7-5 win on court 1 over Benjamin Kilchherr and Gilbert Chung, while Brice Polender and Klein Evans cruised to a 6-1 win on court 2 over Kyle McCann and Filip Engstrom.
Troy continued his winning ways of the weekend in singles play, defeating Pawel Jankowiak 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1. Aronson bested Kichherr for the second time, this time on singles court 3 by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
The other singles wins were not as easy to come by, but Evans and Joe Nardini were able to seal the win. Nardini managed a 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 comeback win over Vignesh Subramanyan on court 6, and Evans held off Engstrom for a second time, taking a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win on court 5.
The Spiders will now return to Richmond to face Saint Louis in A-10 play at the VCU Bubble. Richmond's final match before its home opener is set for Thursday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m.
