Men's Tennis Picks Up A Win At CNU To Complete VA Beach Trip

Norfolk, Va. – The Richmond men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over Christopher Newport after falling to the Old Dominion Marnarch, 6-1, Sunday in a two-match trip to Virginia Beach.
Despite dropping the doubles portion, Richmond raced out to the six singles victories to secure the match. Sophomore Jacob Dunbar was the first to put the Spiders on the board with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.
Sophomore Jonathan Quenard and freshman James Aronson were next with victories at the six and five spots, respectively. Then, freshman Caleb Troy took a 6-3, 6-3 match at the four spot.
Redshirt-senior Ethan Dunbar took a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win at Richmond's top spot, while sophomore Canyon Teague rallied for a 6-7, 6-2, 10-7 win to close the day.
Prior to the win, Richmond fell to Old Dominion. Jacob Dunbar was the lone Spider to defeat a Monarch. The 2014 A-10 Rookie of the Year took a 7-5, 6-7 win over Moundir on court two for Richmond's only point at ODU.
Richmond is back in action Friday, Feb. 13 when it travels to A-10 opponent Saint Joseph's. The match time is not yet decided.
