Spiders Extinguish Flames
02/04/2012 | Men's Tennis
The Richmond Men's Tennis team picked up a win on Friday with a convincing 6-1 victory over Liberty University.
The Spiders started off strong to win the doubles point. Aaron Wicker and Dylan Trent began the Richmond rally with an 8-6 win over Liberty's Siim Tuus and Tristan Stayt. Jesse Feder and Sebastien Fauchet clinched the point with a 9-7 victory.
Junior Sebastien Fauchet continued the rally on court 3 with a pair of 6-1 wins. Juniors Aaron Wicker and Jesse Feder and freshmen Dylan Trent and Paul Nahon III all picked up wins.
"I felt as a team today we competed the best we have this season," says Jesse Feder. "The match was extremely close but what lead us to victory were our composure and conditioning. Like Coach Johnson has told us, 'Hard work pays off,' and today it certainly did. We have a long season ahead of us, but we are braced for each new challenge we will face. With determination, motivation, and the proper work ethic, success is only a breath away. We will continue to train and strive for greatness, one match at a time."
The Spiders return to action on February 11th at Davidson.
