
Men's Tennis Tops Lehigh 5-2 For Third-Straight Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Richmond tennis team defeated Lehigh 5-2 on Friday night at the Lewis Tennis Center, earning its third-straight win on the season.
The Spiders came out with three wins in doubles play, with the Sami Belakhlef/Matt Farina duo knocking out Lehigh's (0-4) Fernandez-Concha/Nespoli in the number one spot. Doug Banker and Bobby McNally paired up for a win at second doubles, while A-10 Player of the Week Chris Louis and William Minter fought for an 8-7 (5) victory at third doubles to secure the doubles point for Richmond.
In singles play, Doug Baker dropped straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at first singles; however, the Spiders followed with victories at second, third, fourth and fifth singles, including a win by Louis (6-0, 6-1) at the no. 2 spot.
Richmond's other points came from Belakhlef with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Brent Herbert at third singles, Matt Stillwagon earning a 7-5, 7-5 win over Michael Gordon at the no. 4 spot and Matt Farina with a win over Jon-Michael Caminiti (6-1, 6-2)
Lehigh's other point came from sixth singles, with Evan Volkman netting a victory after Minter retired while trailing 0-1 in the second set after winning the first set 6-4.
The Spiders (4-5) will resume action tomorrow night in Philadelphia, Pa. with their first Atlantic 10 match, facing the Temple Owls at 6:00 p.m.
