Men's Tennis Splits A-10 Play

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Richmond men's tennis team earned its fourth-straight win as it topped Temple (3-5), 5-2, on Saturday night in Atlantic 10 action. The Spiders then dropped a 7-0 decision to Saint Joseph's on Sunday morning as they move to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in A-10 play.
Although Sami Belakhlef and Matt Farina dropped at third doubles to Temple, Bobby McNally and Matt Stillwagon paired up for an 8-5 win at the no. 1 spot and Chris Louis and Doug Banker paired up for a win at no. 2 doubles to secure the doubles point for the Spiders.
In singles action, Louis dropped a hard-fought match to Temple's Nathan Spunda at first singles, while teammates Banker, McNally, Belakhlef and Stillwagon notched wins at the no. 2-5 spots for Richmond. Temple earned its final point at the no. 6 spot with a win over Farina.
The following day, the Saint Joseph's Hawks blanks the Spiders 7-0.
The Spiders resume action on February 23 at Old Dominion with a 7:00 p.m. match.
