Men's Tennis Sweeps Action On Saturday

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Richmond went 2-0 in men's tennis action on Saturday in Fredericksburg, Va., including a 7-0 sweep over George Mason and a 6-1 win over Mary Washington.
The Spiders faced George Mason in morning action, without allowing a single point to be scored on them. Richmond swept doubles action with the Bobby McNally/Matt Stillwagon duo leading the way at the No. 1 spot. Doug Banker paired up for a win with William Minter at second doubles and Chris Louis paired up for a win with David Berry at third doubles for the clean sweep.
The Spiders then claimed wins at every spot in singles action, with Louis taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to lead Richmond. Banker, McNally, Sami Belakhlef, Stillwagon and Matt Farina followed with wins at the No. 2-6 singles spots, respectively to take the 7-0 victory.
After blanking George Mason, the Spiders moved on to face Mary Washington, where they continued their winning ways.
The Spiders, once again swept doubles action, and although Banker dropped at first singles, Richmond's Louis, McNally, Belakhlef, Stillwagon and Farina came through for wins at No. 2-6 singles to secure a 6-1 victory over Mary Washington.
The Spiders (3-5) will resume action at Lehigh on Feb. 16 at 5:00 p.m., the first of three-straight road matches for Richmond.
