
Men's Tennis Falls To American, 5-2

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the American Eagles on Wed. afternoon on the University of Richmond campus. Chris Louis led the Spiders with a win at No. 4 singles as they fell to 11-13 overall and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 play.
McNally and Matt Stillwagon paired up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-5 victory over the Frayssinoux/Vazquez duo, while Brett Waikart and Doug Banker earned a win at No. 2 doubles. Although Louis and David Berry were unable to pull out a No. 3 doubles win, the Spiders were still able to take a 1-0 advantage going into singles play.
The Eagles earned wins at all singles spots, except for the No. 4 position, which Richmond's Louis secured with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jeffrey Schnell. Richmond's Banker dropped a close 7-6, 7-5 No. 1 singles match to Frayssinoux, while McNally fell 6-3, 6-3 to Vazquez at second singles. Richmond's Sami Belakhlef, Waikart, and Michael Sommer fought hard at the No. 3, 5, and 6 spots, but were unable to come up with wins for the Spiders, and Richmond ended singles play with a 5-1 disadvantage.
The Spiders conclude their regular season on Sat. when they will play host to Georgetown at 1:00 p.m. on the University of Richmond campus.
