
Men's Tennis Destroys Longwood, 6-1

FARMVILLE, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team soared past the Longwood Lancers, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the Lancer Courts in Farmville, Va. Doug Banker, Sami Belakhlef, Chris Louis, Brett Waikart, and Michael Sommer each earned victories in their singles matches as the Spiders improve to 5-7.
The Spiders swept singles action at the five of the six positions on Friday, led by Banker who defeated Patnikov of Longwood at the No. 1 spot. Belakhlef, Louis, Waikart, and Sommer followed with wins at the 3, 4, 5, and 6 spots respectively, giving the Spiders a 5-1 advantage in singles action.
While Longwood's Garcia de Andoain and Lindsley defeated Richmond's McNally and Belakhlef at the No. 1 doubles spot, Richmond's Banker and Waikart paired up at the No. 2 doubles position to take an 8-4 victory over Patnikov and Guennel, and Louis and Sommer paired up for an 8-5 win over Jon Bair and Torres to give the Spiders the doubles point.
