
Men's Tennis Bests George Mason, 6-1

FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team evened its record at 5-5 with a win at George Mason, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon. The Spiders had little trouble with the Patriots as they won five singles matches in straight sets and swept the three doubles matches.
Freshmen Derek Schwandt (Kennett Square, Pa.) and Jeppy Moss (Fredericksburg, Va.) each did not yield a point to their opponents, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No.s 5 and 6 position, respectively. The win improved Moss to 5-1 this spring. Sophomore David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass.), senior Todd Parker (Richmond, Va.) and junior Danny Scrafford (Centreville, Va.) also won in straight sets at the No.s 2, 3, and 4 spots, respectively. At the No. 1, sophomore Niki Doll (Heidelberg, Germany) lost a tough match in a super tie-breaker, 3-6, 7-6, (15-13). The Spiders continued their dominance in doubles competition, winning all three matches to claim the doubles point.
Richmond returns to action this Friday as the Spiders host American at 2:30 p.m.
