PHILADELPHIA - The University of Richmond men's tennis team was defeated by the University of Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon, 6-1, in Philadelphia. The lone Spider victory was secured by freshman Jeppy Moss (Fredericksburg, Va./Woodberry Forest School) who won at the No. 6 spot.
Moss pulled-out a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 victory over Todd Lecher as the freshman saved four match points to claim the win. He improved his overall singles record to 8-3, including 4-1 in the spring. The Quakers were too much for the Spiders at the other five singles spots as Richmond dropped all of them in straight sets. Pennsylvania also swept the doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
The loss drops Richmond to 4-5 this spring (2-0 in the Atlantic 10). The Spiders next play on Tuesday February 26 as they travel to Fairfax, Va. to face George Mason at 2:30 p.m.
