
Men's Tennis Dominates Temple, 5-1

PHILADELPHIA --- The Richmond men's tennis team (4-4) captured its second Atlantic 10 match of the 2002 season, defeating Temple 5-1 on Friday evening in Philadelphia.
The Spiders dominated the Owls, grabbing victories at the No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 spots. Senior Todd Parker (Richmond, Va.) posted a three sets triumph over Yhonny Murray (3-6, 7-5, 7-6) at the No. 2 position. Junior Dan Scrafford (Centreville, Va.) and freshmen Matt Cabana (Plantation, Fla.) and Derek Schwandt (Kennett Square, Pa.) swept at the3, 4 and 5 spots. The trio had no trouble, winning in straight sets.
In addition to their four singles victories, the Spiders also captured the doubles points. Freshman Tim Hadsel-Mares (Burlington, Vt.) and sophomore David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass.) captured an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Scrafford and Schwandt teamed up for an 8-6 victory at the two spot while Parker and freshman Jeppy Moss (Fredericksburg, Va.) claimed the third spot.
Richmond returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, February 16 continuing its stay in the City of Brotherly Love. The Spiders take on UPenn at Noon.
