
Men's Tennis Tops Maryland 5-2

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Richmond's men's tennis team won five of six singles matches to post a 5-2 victory over Maryland on Sunday at the University of Maryland Tennis Bubble.
Despite a loss at the top singles spot, Richmond responded with victories at the remaining five positions, with Spider freshman Nikki Doll (Heidelberg, Germnay/Heidelberg Gymnasium) defeating Jonathan Murchison in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2. At three singles, Richmond newcomer David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) bested Luan Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2, while junior Todd Parker (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Larry Chou at four singles. Senior Mark Scordo (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex) posted a straight sets (6-2, 6-0) win over Jonathan Neeter at the No. 5 position and Spider sophomore Danny Scrafford (Centreville, Va./Centreville) dominated Dan Kenshalc at six singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Richmond's doubles tandem of Doll and Scordo delivered a doubles victory at the No. 2 spot, registering an 8-4 win over Chou and Neeter.
The Spiders (6-5) return to action on Friday, March 23, hosting Navy at 2:30 p.m. at UR Tennis Complex. The match begins a six-match home stand for Richmond.
