Spiders Edge Temple, 1-0 In Women's Soccer

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore back Edda Gardarsdottir's (Reykjavik, Iceland/Breidholti) rip into the net in the 38th minute was the difference as the University of Richmond posted a 1-0 victory over the Temple Owls in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at First Market Stadium.
The Spiders out shot the Owls, 20-7 in the contest including a decisive 12-1 in the first half. Richmond got on the board in the first stanza when Gardarsdottir controlled the loose ball in front of the box. From 20 yards out, she tore the game-winner into the top right shelf.
Richmond improves to 5-5-1 on the season, 4-1-0 in the Atlantic 10. The Spiders step out of Atlantic 10 conference play on Wednesday, October 17, entertaining in-state rival #13 Virginia in the Wachovia Challenge. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at First Market Stadium.
