Andy Goe joined the Richmond swimming and diving program in September of 2022 as head diving coach.
Goe (pronounced 'Go') joins the program with over a decade of collegiate and club coaching experience, most recently serving as a diving coach at COM Aquatics in Midland, Tex.
"We're excited Andy has arrived at Richmond. He has a breadth of DI experience and club experience; he understand elite diving. He is motivated to work with our divers and our community," said Barany.Â
While at COM Aquatics, Goe assisted in the development of SEC champion Charlye Campbell, two-time NCAA platform champion Tarrin Gilliland and two-time NCAA 1-meter champion Sam Pickens, all of whom have been Olympic trials finalists.
Prior to COM, Goe made coaching stops at New Mexico State (2015-16), Brown (2013-15), Indiana Diving Academy's RipFest (2012-15), Western Kentucky (2012-13), Florida Gulf Coast (2010-12) and Canisius (2008-10).Â
On top of coaching, Goe has played significant roles in student-athlete development, most recently serving as a Pathways advisor at Midland College in Texas. The advising team provides intentional and holistic academic advising to help guide students in making academic, transfer and career pathway decisions. While in Midland, he also worked as an adjunct professor of Kinesiology focusing on physical fitness. He was a student-athlete affairs coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast and has been a freshmen advisor at Penn State.Â
During his coaching career, he's been named a two-time Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Women's Diving Coach of the Year, has coached three conference champions, one conference Diver of the Meet, one conference Diver of the Year, 26 top-8 conference finalists, 14 NCAA Zones qualifiers, seven AAU nationals divers and has helped athletes break three conference records and six school records.Â
Goe's involvement in the sport stretches beyond coaching, as he's served as a diving official on several occasions at the Texas High School State Championships and Texas State Regionals as well as the New York State Empire Games.Â
He earned his bachelors degree from Ball State in 1997 and earned a masters in education from Indiana Wesleyan in 2004.
