Spiders Open Season With Win over Wofford

RICHMOND, Va. — Jess Moylan scored the first goal of her career as the Richmond women's soccer team opened its 2026 season with a 1-0 victory over Wofford Sunday at President's Field at River Road.
Moylan broke a scoreless tie in the 24th minute, collecting a rebound off a shot from teammate Paige West and firing it past the oncoming keeper with her right foot from six yards out. Moylan, a sophomore who led the Spiders in minutes played last season, registered her first career goal on her 12th career shot.
The Spiders improved to 2-0 all-time vs Wofford following last season's 1-0 road win in Spartansburg, S.C. Richmond is now 3-0-1 in season openers under coach Adam Denton.
Richmond controlled much of the match, outshooting Wofford 12-6, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Spiders also held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks and finished with 58% of the possession.
Veronica Rrapi made one save in the opening half before Isabel Seifert took over in goal after halftime and stopped both shots she faced as the duo combined for the shutout.
Richmond will return to action Thursday at 5 PM against American at President's Field at River Road.
