Women’s Soccer Announces 2026 Fall Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. — University of Richmond women's soccer head coach Adam Denton announced the 2026 fall schedule on Thursday, featuring 18 regular-season matches, 10 home contests at President's Field at River Road and a full 10-match Atlantic 10 slate.
Richmond will play two exhibition matches before opening the regular season, hosting ETSU on Aug. 5 before traveling to East Carolina on Aug. 9.
"The start of each season brings real excitement, and we are looking forward to this fall," Denton said. "Over the past few seasons, we have continued to improve within games, and now the next step is impacting the outcomes of those games. Every year the team changes, and we will miss the players who graduated, but we had a productive spring and return a strong group. That continuity will be important as we integrate our freshmen and continue building toward the season."
The Spiders open the regular season with a three-match homestand, welcoming Wofford on Aug. 16, American on Aug. 20 and Queens on Aug. 23. Richmond will then make its first road trip of the regular season to Mount St. Mary's on Aug. 30.
September begins with an in-state matchup at President's Field as the Spiders host Longwood on Sept. 3 before traveling to Radford on Sept. 6 and VMI on Sept. 10. Richmond closes non-conference play at home against Howard on Sept. 13.
"The non-conference schedule gives us balance and variety, with opponents from several different conferences," Denton said. "Those games will help us evaluate the strength and depth of our team and prepare us for a challenging Atlantic 10 schedule. We have a tough slate ahead, but we are very much looking forward to the competition."
Atlantic 10 play begins Sept. 20, when Richmond travels to George Washington. The Spiders then open their conference home schedule with back-to-back matches against Duquesne on Sept. 24 and St. Bonaventure on Sept. 27.
Richmond opens October on the road at George Mason on Oct. 3 and La Salle on Oct. 8 before returning home to host Davidson on Oct. 11. The Spiders will then visit Saint Louis on Oct. 17 before hosting crosstown rival VCU on Oct. 22. The matchup will mark the Rams' first visit to President's Field at River Road since 2022.
"All of the matchups are exciting, but everyone affiliated with Richmond knows what the VCU-Richmond rivalry means," Denton said. "That is certainly one of the games that stands out on the schedule, and we are excited to have that matchup back at President's Field."
Richmond closes the regular season with a road match at Rhode Island on Oct. 25 before returning home to host Fordham on Nov. 1.
Denton enters his fourth season at the helm of the Spiders after Richmond finished the 2025 season with a 4-7-7 mark. The Spiders return a strong core from last year's group, including Emma Newman, Veronica Rrapi, Morgane Zinn and Julia Lishia, while Gwen Howell and Sydney Bortz will serve as team captains for the 2026 campaign.
Newman returns after a standout freshman campaign in which she became Richmond's first A-10 All-Rookie Team selection since 2016 and the program's first all-conference honoree of any kind since 2019. She started all 18 matches and led the Spiders in goals, points, shots and shots on goal, while tying the program's single-game record with four goals in her collegiate debut against VMI.
Rrapi also returns in goal after starting all 16 matches she appeared in during the 2025 season. She posted a 0.88 goals-against average, an .857 save percentage, 84 total saves and six shutouts, while holding 13 opponents to one goal or fewer.
The 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship begins Nov. 6-7 with quarterfinal matches hosted by the highest seeds. The semifinals and final are set for Nov. 11-15, also hosted by the highest remaining seed.
