Men's Basketball Announces 2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule
07/06/2026 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond men's basketball revealed its non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season Monday, featuring matchups against in-state rivals, visits to power-conference opponents, and neutral-site dates in some of the sport's top venues among the team's 13 non-conference games.
The Spiders will play six non-conference games at the Robins Center, four true road games, and three neutral-site contests, including a game at The Palestra in Philadelphia and two games at the Greenbrier Tip-Off, all in November.
"Our players came to Richmond to compete in games like these — against high-level opponents, in historic venues, and on stages that will demand our best," said Spiders head coach Chris Mooney, who will lead Richmond for a 22nd straight season in 2026-27. "This is an exciting schedule that gives us tremendous opportunities to challenge ourselves, represent Richmond on a national stage, and prepare for what will be another intense and highly competitive Atlantic 10 season."
Richmond will begin its season on Monday, November 2 against UNC Asheville at the Robins Center before heading north to face Temple at The Palestra in Philadelphia on November 8, part of the season-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the iconic venue.
That matchup is the first of five straight games away from home for the Spiders. Richmond will travel to Southern Illinois on November 12 in a rematch of last year's overtime thriller at the Robins Center and visit Virginia Tech on November 16 for its first regular-season game with the Hokies since 2009. The Spiders will open Thanksgiving break with a pair of games at the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on November 20 and November 22. Richmond's opponents for that event will be announced shortly.
UR will finish Thanksgiving week in the Robins Center, hosting Bethune-Cookman on November 25 and VMI on November 28. 2026-27 will be the fifth straight season the Spiders have faced the Keydets in the Robins Center.
Richmond will open December with two road games, visiting East Carolina on December 1 and Old Dominion on December 5, before finishing its non-conference campaign with three straight home games. The Spiders will take on Elon on December 12, William & Mary on December 18, and Lafayette on December 21.
Richmond still has the ability to add one additional non-conference game under new NCAA guidelines that take effect for the 2026-27 season and allow teams to play up to 32 regular-season games.
Tip-off times and TV broadcast information for all Richmond non-conference games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as they become available. UR's full schedule, including Atlantic 10 games, will be announced at a later date.
As of Monday, fans are able to renew their season tickets for the 2026-27 season. Existing season-ticket holders will receive emails from the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office with renewal instructions. The deadline to renew season tickets is September 8, and any questions can be answered by calling 1-877-SPIDER-1.
