Spiders to Open A-10 Championship Wednesday vs Loyola

RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Spiders will be the 11 seed at this week's Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship in Pittsburgh and will face 14 seed Loyola Chicago in the opening round Wednesday, the conference announced Saturday evening. The game is scheduled to air on USA Network, with tip off at 2 PM at PPG Paints Arena. Tickets are available at RichmondSpiders.com or by calling 1-877-SPIDER1.
Richmond finished its Atlantic 10 campaign with a 5-13 record, winning the tiebreaker for the 11 seed vs 5-13 La Salle by virtue of its 74-53 win vs the Explorers during the season.
Loyola went 4-14 in A-10 play, the same as St. Bonaventure, but drew the 14 seed due to its 84-70 loss at St. Bonaventure on January 20.
The Spiders and Ramblers only meeting this season was on February 28 in Chicago, a 69-66 Loyola win. The all-time series is tied at 3-3, and Wednesday's meeting will be the first between the two schools at a neutral site since UR defeated Loyola 75-73 in Indianapolis during the 2020-21 season.
Wednesday's winner will advance to face 6 seed Davidson in the quarterfinals Thursday at 7:30 PM on USA Network.
