Fordham got on the board in the first inning off UR starter Jackson Hinchliffe on an RBI double down the right field line.
Richmond answered with a run in the top of the second. RJ Rickabaugh led off the frame with a walk then scored on Ryan Recio's double down the left field line.
The Rams took a 2-1 lead in the fourth, connecting two hits and a Spider miscue to score. Hinchliffe went four-plus innings on the mound, scattering two runs on four hits, two walks, a hit batter and one strikeout.
Dylan Winebrenner snagged the lead back for Richmond in the fifth inning on a two-run home run to centerfield, bringing in Evan Wilson from first. Winebrenner now leads the team with eight home runs and 20 RBI.
Dominic Ruggiero took over for Hinchliffe in the fifth and got out of the frame with a double play he started. In the sixth, Ruggiero got two outs, including a strikeout, before he was lifted for Aaron Van Tuyle. Van Tuyle induced a pop-out on the second pitch of his appearance. He went on to toss a scoreless seventh, allowing one hit but collecting the strikeout to end the Rams chances.
Justin Gay took the mound with one out in the eighth and got two ground outs to strand two Rams. After the Spiders stranded two runners in the top of the ninth, Gay got two flyouts quickly but loaded the bases with a base hit, intentional walk and a hit batter. Fordham got a base hit to right center two score two runs and collect the win.
