Magner Leads Spiders After Round 1 in South Carolina

AIKEN, S.C. — Katie Magner fired a 3-over 76 to lead the Spiders in the opening round of the ANNIKA Foundation's More Than Golf Invitational at Old Barnwell Sunday. Magner, a sophomore, recorded two birdies, five bogeys, and 11 pars and is tied for 20th among the 60 names on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, the Spiders are in eighth place in the field of 12 at 18-over par (310).
Senior Hannah Lydic, junior Maya Beasley, and freshman Addie Doroh are among a group of 11 golfers tied for 31st at 5-over par (78). Senior Olivia Wilkie is two shots further back at 7-over par (80) in 46th place.
UR's 16 bogeys were the third fewest of any team Monday, but the Spiders carded just seven birdies, eighth among all teams.
Richmond will begin Monday's second round at 11:20 AM.
