RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond forward Maggie Doogan has been named U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week after leading the Spiders to a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference victories while surpassing 2,000 career points. In addition, Doogan was also named to the 2026 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, placing her among 30 of the nation's top players and making her the lone representative from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Doogan averaged 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last week while shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three-point range in wins over St. Bonaventure and at Davidson. She finished the week 16-of-26 from the floor and 10-of-11 at the free throw line.
She opened the week with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in Richmond's home victory over St. Bonaventure, recording her ninth double-double of the season. The Spiders outscored the Bonnies 45-20 in the second half to extend their Atlantic 10 home winning streak to 31 games inside the Robins Center.
Doogan followed with a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting in a road win at Davidson. In the second half of that contest, she scored her 2,000th career point, becoming just the third player in program history to reach the milestone.
Now with 2,013 career points, Doogan ranks among the most accomplished players in program history. Across 122 career games, she has averaged 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 50.5 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from three-point range and 83.5 percent at the free throw line.
